Kate Moylan

Bachelor of Interior Design

With an appreciation of beauty through pragmaticism, I am inspired to create thoughtful spaces that imbue warmth and comfort.

My design approach lends itself to client centred collaboration. I enjoy the process of getting to know each client, understanding their unique needs and preferences, and guiding these towards a harmonious  aesthetic vision – a journey I find particularly rewarding.

Motivated to create thoughtful and timeless design, I look forward to producing projects with soul, that inspire the perfect balance of ease and beauty.

Babel: Reading the Waves

This adaptive reuse project gave the opportunity to rethink a new public space within an existing building skin. Taking inspiration from the original 1909 dressing sheds which were stocked with books for beachgoers to read.
Babel explores the concept of the palimpsest, with
different stories built on the shores over time.
My exploration encompassed a library and study spaces, theatres as well as varied hospitality opportunities.

L'Dillie, Potts Point

L’Dillie is a mixed use hospitality study comprised of a hotel, cafe, bar and restaurant.
The project focused on adding value through a multi armed response to hospitality needs.

Museum of Tea, Paddington

The Museum of Tea was an exercise in restraint. Colours are subdued so as not to compete with the exhibition, instead – texture is the hero. Way finding is made clear by an interruption of red that leads the visitor to journey through each room.
