COMMERCIAL - THE WAYFINDER HOTEL

“We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love… and then we return home.– Aboriginal Proverb

The Wayfinder Hotel provides a storytelling experience. It creates an opportunity for guests to immerse themselves in the stories that have played a part in shaping the physical and cultural landscape of Camperdown and the surrounding areas.

The Wayfinder concept is centered around providing visitors with an authentic experience and connection to the rich history and diversity of Camperdown. Guests are invited to go on a journey. Each element of the hotel plays a part in delivering a different aspect of Camperdown’s stories through its design.

By allowing guests to navigate their way through the layered history and stories of Camperdown, they are able to leave with their own stories to share.

The Archive – Hotel Pop Up

By name, the Archive evokes a sense of history and nostalgia, a house for stories and the preservation of histories and records. The vision for the Archive is a unique community space with stories and storytelling at its heart. It is hybrid between public library, community education hub and coffee bar. It is not static space, but rather it invites play, discovery and community engagement. Visitors to the Archive can simply sit and have a coffee or they may choose to stay and read. They could share their own stories with those who pass through and all are welcome to sit and listen and observe before they continue on their journey.

RESIDENTIAL - TINY HOUSE ENMORE

From the ruins of a partially dilapidated Victorian terrace house, emerges an unexpected contemporary residence, much like the resilient growth that sprouts from the charred remnants of trees in the aftermath of a bushfire.  This resilience and adaptability directly responds to the clients’ request for a multi-purpose space. The old and new components of the building are fused in a fashion that references surrealist techniques, Cubomania and references the forms and shapes used in Joan Miro’s Mallorca studio.

RESIDENTIAL - WOOLLOOMOOLOO WAREHOUSE

A Residential Warehouse conversion centered around the concept of duality, in recognition of the dual sides of the client’s personality – the public (extrovert) and the private (introvert).

The transition from extrovert to introvert has been is reflected in the concept model that was created demonstrated through the transformation of angles to curves.

The dichotomy of extrovert and introvert is further reflected in the chosen design and layout of the space with more geometric and angular shapes being used in the public/work areas and curves and more organic shapes being used in the private spaces of the residence.
