Catherine Whitting
Catherine is a designer working in various disciplines, residential and commercial interior design, events, visual arts, textile and product design. Catherine graduated from Sydney College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 1995, followed by a Graduate Diploma of Art and Design Education, Diploma of Interior Design & Decoration and tertiary qualifications in Interior Design Training & Assessment. Her career as a design educator has spanned over 20 years. Catherine is very passionate about her fusion of interior design industry practice and design education and embraces a love of colour, art, designing for psychological and physical wellbeing in education and industry.
Catherine teaches full time in the Interior Design section of TAFENSW Design Centre Enmore, whilst practicing in industry as a professional interior designer, in with her own company co- founded with Kate St James. Having worked as an events teacher for over 15 years she has designed events and launches for TAFENSW and private clients. www.stjameswhitting.com
DAVID MALEK
David is a designer working in various disciplines; interior design, events, film & TV and styling. David graduated from Design Centre Enmore with a qualification in Interior Design in 2005 and from UWS with a degree in Visual Arts in 1994. Having worked as a production designer since 2003 he has designed events and launches for corporate clients Swarovski, David Jones, Deutsche Bank, Nike, Audi, Grey Goose Vodka, Air New Zealand and ARIA. Film & TV projects include Channel 10’s Wonderland, Bruce Beresford’s Mao’s Last Dancer, Channel 7’s Packed to The Rafters. David has also worked on television advertising campaigns for numerous clients including Qantas, MTV and Telstra. David has designed interiors for the Mirvac Hotel Group, Team Event, Poho Flowers and many residential clients. Styling contracts have included BWS, Inside Out magazine, Parker Furniture, Workshopped, Belle Property and Valiant Hire. Working across various industries brings a fresh approach to his projects and keeps him passionate about design.
